Welcome to the
Highlands Brass Academy. The HBA provides summer workshops aimed
to give serious student, semi-pro and amateur brass musicians an experience of intense learning
in the art of brass music. The Academy's goal is to challenge players while participating in a
rewarding musical environment shared with fellow brass enthousiasts.
Summer 2010 is the Highlands Brass Academy's second year and we are proud to announce
the Advanced workshop which will run for 8 days from
Saturday August 7th to Saturday August 14th.
The advanced program is geared toward
musicians playing at an advanced level or better: students, semi-professionals and advanced
amateurs. The program consists of large and
small ensemble rehearsals, sectional workshops, recitals, masterclasses, and optional private lessons, all leading
up to a public concert at the end of the workshop. Our roster of top-notch Canadian
professional orchestral musicians will help participants of the advanced program push their
playing to the next level and prepare them for careers in professional playing.
The workshop is going to be held at Archie Stouffer Elementary school in the village of
Minden, Ontario, 225km
North East of Toronto (about 2h45m hours driving).
The HBA accepts Canadian and international students from all over and of any age. The only requirement
is an advanced playing level. Accepted applicants will receive their music in advance of the
course in order to prepare ahead of time.
