This location is reserved (on a first-come-first-served basis) for participants without access to wheels during the workshop. This hotel/restaurant/pub is located right in Minden's downtown and is walking distance to the HBA's facilities.
Motel Minden is located on HWY 35 on the edge Haliburton, accross the road from a Tim Horton's and a large gas station (both 24-hour). This location is preferred for participants who have their own vehicleHBA accomodations may be double-occupancy. If this is a concern for you, please discuss with the Academy director.
The HBA is offering a meal plan for breakfast, snacks and lunch at the Academy, for 115$.
Breakfast will be a small continental-style meal. Lunches will vary, but will usually consistent
of a hot or cold item, plus sandwiches and a drink. Both meals will include vegetarian options.
Bottled water will available during the day.
Suppers will be up to the participant -- Minden offers a wide array of eateries and food shopping
including a cozy coffee house, family restaurants, authentic Thai, pubs, a bakery, Chinese food,
fish and chips, pizzeria, fried chicken, and more. There is also a 24-hour Tim Horton's and
gas-station-convenience store combo on the main highway through town.
All participants at the HBA will receive a frequent-diner discount card valid for 15% off
at the Dominion Hotel Pub and Restaurant and its sister bistro
Grill on the Gull.
For those wishing to find their own accomodations (if the whole family is making a vacation
out of the trip), the Haliburton Highlands are chock-full of
spaces to stay. This includes resorts,
B&B's, rental cottages, motels and hotels. Here are a few recommendations within a
reasonable driving distance of the HBA:
